If your SSO certificate is soon to expire, please follow one of the options below to ensure uninterrupted access:
Option 1: Update via Federation or Customer-Hosted Metadata
If your institution is part of a federation, please contact your federation to upload the new certificate to your metadata.
Alternatively, if your institution uses a customer-hosted metadata URL that is not managed through a federation, manual updates on our side are not required. As long as your institution updates the metadata at your endpoint, our system will automatically retrieve the changes. Metadata on the Springer Nature side is refreshed every 12 hours.
Option 2: Manual Update via Institutional Support
If a manual update is required, please configure the new metadata and contact the Institutional Support team through the webform to provide the updated certificate. We are able to use .cer files, XML files, or URLs to update an institutional customer's SSO certificate, provided that only the certificate has changed within the metadata.
Please note that if we manually upload the new certificate, all future updates will also need to be handled manually.
Additionally, our system supports multiple certificates simultaneously, so we can upload your new certificate while the existing one remains active. This allows you to test the new certificate by disabling the old one without needing to coordinate a changeover time on both sides.
