Creating a topic in Nature Navigator with an existing content list

You can leverage selection from curated lists you’ve created using any external tools. A list with only DOIs (digital object identifier) in a csv format is all we need.

To import such a list into Nature Navigator, use the following option in the Creator main screen.

What you need to consider when importing content selections

Your content selection needs to be complete, i.e. it has to contain all content you need for your topic. We are currently not expanding or completing your selection to add “missing content” (see below in case that is a need of yours).

What to consider when importing an existing content list

  • Ensure the list is complete

  • The system does not expand upon your selected criteria, i.e. we won’t add any documents.

  • Have at least 1000 DOIs selected to create a robust topic

The content you have in your selection must be referenced by a valid and resolvable DOI.

CSV file requirements

In order to correctly import your content selection into Nature Navigator your file must comply with the following criteria

  • Your file is in CSV format

  • Your file has only one column with one DOI per row

  • Your DOIs do not contain any URL prefix, i.e. “10.1038/s42256-024-00809-7” instead of “https://doi.org/10.1038/s42256-024-00809-7”

  • Your file is not larger than 32Mb

Importing other file types and content selection

We are aware that your existing work might not fit the specifications above. We are looking forward to helping you leveraging your existing work within Nature Navigator. Please contact us at navigator@nature.com to:

  • Import file types other than a single column CSV
  • Import partial content selection (sample content) to get them expanded
