If your article was published in a Springer hybrid journal (or one of the Palgrave hybrid journals which require authors to complete the "MyPublication" process), it will, in most cases, be possible for your article to be made open access retrospectively if you wish to do so.
In order to place your order, please submit your request via our order form.
Please read carefully all the information provided at the top of the page, which includes details about the costs incurred as well as potential restrictions and conditions. Please note that it is not possible to cancel this order once it has been placed.
Make sure you click the Submit button when you have completed the form and we will contact you to complete the process.
If your article was published in a Nature hybrid journal (or one of the Palgrave hybrid journals which do not require authors to complete the "MyPublication" process), it will, in most cases, be possible for your article to be made open access retrospectively if you wish to do so.
In order to place your order, please contact us.
Please note however that your request should reach us before March 31st in the year following final publication (in an issue if the journal has AOP (advance online publication) and issue publication).
E.g. If an article is published in 2015 and the request is made before March 31st 2016 then the article can be made open access provided there is sufficient time to make it open access before this deadline.
This limitation has been put in place because we calculate site licence prices for such journals based on the amount of subscription content published in the previous year.
Once this deadline has been passed the article will have been included in these site license calculations, and therefore cannot be retrospectively made OA. For further details please see our policy on retrospective open access.
If your request cannot be accommodated, please note that you can still make the accepted version of your article (post-review, pre-copyediting) openly accessible in a repository six months after publication, in accordance with our self-archiving policy.
